Knowing Your Minting Company

question 150x150 Knowing Your Minting CompanySometimes choosing the right company can be the hardest thing getting a new coin started. There is endless venues available by searching in Google. Each company is fighting for a piece of the market and will offer endless gotcha’s to get your coin. So how can you be sure?I mean you might not even know a thing about coins. You could have just been told from your boss that you need a coin and to make it happen. Don’t worry many of us have been there before too. So let’s cover a few basics.

Research is always the key and you should be doing your homework before jumping in. You should start by looking for any negative reputation and then figuring out if what you are reading is legitimate. Can you get any word of mouth recommendations from someone you know? Have you been through their website to make sure you know what you are getting? Being cautious is a good quality when it comes to coin minting. You can never take it slow enough or you will find yourself with the lowest quality coin at the highest price before you know it.

Checking out the portfolio makes a world of difference. many companies don’t offer samples so you need to know upfront what their products look like. You should see what images they offer on their site. You need to be interviewing the company like it’s a job interview. You need to see if there is anything you need to know upfront like is it really free shipping or are you being screwed another way? Is the coins really made in the U.S. or are they telling you it is then sending the order to an overseas factory? You are going to bite the bullet unless you are with a transparent company.

You have better hope this company is going to be around for a while and not some fly by night company spouting how is a retired military person that is taking care of you. You want longevity and easy contact. So let’s give a check list:

- Looked at portfolio
- Called them and asked every question I could think of
- Asked for recommendations if possible
- Called them again
- Read their site
- Check Google for bad reviews
- Not a shady overnight site
- Got multiple quotes
- Got killer customer service

Those are a great start and we hope you will be successful in your new coin. Of course the list could go on but this is meant for a quick questionaire so you can get started.
